Not only do many beauty products contain needless chemicals, but they can also cost you your entire paycheck. Making your own DIY beauty products is fun, cheaper, and ultimately better for you. Here are a few recipes to get you started on your DIY beauty adventure.


DIY Lip Scrub:

This simple to make lip scrub will make your lips soft and kissable with only three ingredients (and it also tastes good). Honey and coconut oil will moisturize your lips while the brown sugar will exfoliate and gently removed any dead skin from your lips.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Teaspoons Brown Sugar
  • Tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • Tablespoon Honey

Instructions:

  • Mix the coconut oil and honey together and stir until it is completely mixed
  • Add the brown sugar and mix everything together (adding more coconut oil if needed)
  • Transfer the lip scrub into a clean jar, and you're ready to use for ultra soft lips!


DIY Hydrating Hair Mask:

While avocados are known for being good for your skin, they can also protect against UV damage. This mixture will make your hair softer and silkier than it has ever been before. Avocado provides endless benefits to your hair including protecting your hair, promoting hair growth, preventing split ends, moisturizing your scalp, and more.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Teaspoon Avocado
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Honey
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Yogurt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Dairy-Free Milk Of Choice
  • (Soy, Almond, Coconut, etc.)

Instructions:

  • Combine the ingredients together and mix thoroughly
  • Apply the mixture onto your hair starting at the roots and spreading it down to the ends
  • Leave on your hair for at least 5 minutes, but can be kept on hair for several hours
  • If desired put a plastic bag over your head/hair
  • Use shampoo to wash the mixture out of your hair


DIY Uplifting Eye Cream:

Save your wallet a few hundred dollars and make your own moisturizing and uplifting eye cream. Essential oils and vitamin E make for an extremely moisturizing mixture, while the beeswax keeps the ingredients together.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Teaspoons Avocado Oil
  • 2 Teaspoons Calendula Oil
  • 2 Teaspoons Rosehip Oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cornstarch or Corn Flour (the white one)
  • 2 Teaspoons Melted Beeswax (or 10g/0.3oz)
  • 1 Vitamin E Capsule
  • 3 Drops Lemon Essential Oil

Instructions:

  • Use a double boiler or stainless steel bowl sitting in a pan and allow the water to come to a gentle boil
  • Add all of the ingredients, excluding the vitamin E and lemon essential oil, to the bowl and stir gently with a whisk until the mixture is melted
  • Take the mixture off of the heat and water Stir in the lemon essential oil and the vitamin E
  • Pour the mixture into sterile jars
  • Once the cream has set, place the lids on and let it cool


DIY Makeup Remover:

Makeup remover is often full of chemicals that you are probably better off without, however this DIY all-natural eye makeup remover concoction will cleanse, moisturize, as well as fight aging.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons Vitamin E Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 3 Tablespoons of Alcohol Free Witch Hazel
  • 1/2 Cups Purified Water

Instructions:

  • Use a funnel to pour all of the ingredients into an eight ounce bottle with a secure lid
  • Shake the bottle vigorously to mix the ingredients before each use
  • For best results, moisten a cotton ball with the solution and wipe across your eyes until all of your eye makeup has been removed


DIY Charcoal Face Mask:

Ditch the charcoal face masks you pay a steep price for and try making your very own. Charcoal face masks are great for removing blackheads, whiteheads, and other impurities. The mixture will also help kill other acne-causing bacteria.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons Bentonite Clay
  • 3 Capsules Activated Charcoal
  • 3-4 Teaspoons Aloe Vera
  • 1-2 Teaspoons Shea Butter
  • 1.5pz Chamomile Tea
  • 1 Drop Peppermint Essential Oil (optional)
  • 1 Drop Eucalyptus Essential Oil (optional)

Instructions:

  • View the tea and melt the shea butter in a double boiler (or in a bowl inside a pot of water
  • Once the rea is ready and the shea butter has completely melted, mix the two together
  • Mix the bentonite clay and the activated charcoal
  • Add the clay and the charcoal to the shea and tea mix and stir together
  • Store the face mask in an air tight container
  • Apply the mixture all over your face and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then wash off well
